New Orleans Audubon Nature Institute.

Hey everyone! I wanted to share some photos from our recent trip to the zoo with some friends we did this past weekend. We have the year long membership to the zoo, aquarium and insectarium. Knowing that we're going to be leaving here so soon, we are trying to really use them and take the kids out somewhere each weekend.

The day started out with really great weather. We all got to the zoo when it opened, which I recommend if you plan to get parking near the entrance!

The first exhibit near the entrance is the FLAMINGOS! MY kiddos love them so much, and we have to stay here for around 10 minutes before we can move on because they really adore flamingos.

Next is the most beautiful fountain, not that my hubby really focused on that! They have been working on this fountain since we got here, so I am so glad we got to see parts of it before we leave! I love the elephants that they have and can't wait to see it before we leave!

To the right of the fountain you enter the Asian Domain. This is probably my favorite part of the zoo, because it is so tranquil, shady and absolutely fun to photograph.

In this area you can find the Orangutang, Sloth Bear, Jaguar, Asian Elephants, a beautiful Tiger, and some more smaller animals/ exhibits. They did a fantastic job at designing the area too, with some fun photo prop areas and fountains.

Next up, we came across this beautiful guy!

The funniest part about this is that all week long it had been storming really crazy. This caused a bunch of worms to be all over our patio and sidewalk outside... Well, Oliver kept yelling, "SNAKE! SNAKE! SNAKE! AHHH!" and we kept telling him that they were worms.... so when he saw this guy he totally understood that THIS was a real life snake and that those itty bitty things were in fact, worms. :-)

Next up were the sea lions! We love this area a lot too, because we're big fans of sea life animals. The kids' favorite show is Octonauts.. That paired with how many trips we took to Monterey Bay Aquarium has really influenced how much the kids really adore aquatic animals.

I think it is kind of funny how the entire time Oliver was climbing through this thing I was thinking to myself how he was probably going to want to be a Marine. It just reminded me of all of Dillon's boot camp stories and I just couldn't not compare it. My little baby is such an explorer.

If you ever get the chance to visit this zoo, I definitely recommend riding the carousel, visiting the water park (don't forget your swim gear and a towel!) and packing picnic to eat under the big Oak Trees! It is such a fun zoo, we spent 6 hours here and had no idea that much time had passed!
